The news that has just come in from the Madras High Court is that, henceforth, there will be a ban on cut-out banners of living people. Reports suggest that Trilokshana Kumari, a resident of Arumbakkam, Chennai had filed a case and the judgment has come in her favour with a ban brought in for cut-outs made for living people.
Though this has been enforced on political grounds, this could possibly be applicable for film stars as well. It is a known fact that stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Ajith, etc., have a huge fan following and there is a festival style celebration that happens with cut-outs and banners during the release of their films.
If this ban stays applicable for film stars as well, it would affect the celebration of fans and would be disappointing news for them, as cut-outs of their favourite stars are a regular part of the celebration. Will we stop seeing cut-outs and banners for our favourite stars?
Actress Mumtaj, who has been seen in several Tamil movies and songs is famous for her appearance with Vijay in the song Kattipudi Kattipudida for the movie Kushi. In an exclusive conversation with Behindwoods, she talked about her working experience and future acting plans. Mumtaj said:
“In Kushi, my character and the song was loved by people. I knew they will laugh and enjoy the character because it was enacted by SJ Suryah sir to me. The way he explained and performed the dialogues got me into splits and I knew audiences would enjoy it the same way.
It was amazing to see Vijay sir and Sj Suryah sir back together in Mersal. In the song, Vijay sir and I were romancing not fighting. I will act in films if i get some solid characters with a good performance scope. In fact, that is just what I have been waiting for and I am open to do even negative roles.”
