In an interview to Behindwoods, the actor spoke about the film and his other forthcoming projects, which includes the Vetrimaaran directorial Asuran. Speaking about the film, GV Prakash Kumar said that "I play a character named Balu, who is a studious first-ranker student, which is something I am not in real life. The role is a huge departure from the massy, local characters that I have palyed in real life."

He had quipped, saying "The film's leads will always quarrel with each other, like Khushi, where there hero and heroine have frequent ego clashes." adding that he and Shalini Pandey would frequently quarrel with each other and that has reflected in the film too.

When asked about how his nexxt film as a music director, Asuran has shaped up, he said "The album will be a raw, folk-based album. In Aadukalam, we did Madurai folk, and with this film, we gave a modern presentation to some of the most old folk tunes. The songs carry the same energy as Aadukalam will be there, and we have brought a Tirunelveli slang. Like Aadukalam and Polladhavan, the score will be arresting, with full of action."
