Actor George Mariyan is known for his roles in films such as Aandavan Kattalai, Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu to name a few, has recently starred in both Diwali releases of this year- Bigil and Kaithi. In an exclusive interview, he speaks about his experience working with both the films.
Regarding his working experience in director Atlee’s Bigil, the actor said “I was supposed to work with Atlee in his first film ‘Raja Rani’, but couldn’t due to various reasons. I got to play the role of a priest in Bigil. I liked the character and could get ahold of the role due to my background.”
He added “I will be uttering the line ‘Yaaruda Michael’ (Who is Michael) in an angry tone. Though the line is justifiable, I had a lot of apprehensions and apologized to Vijay sir prior to the shoot. But he took it in good stride and told me to just play what the character demanded.”
George believed that Kaithi was an important role, since he played a full-fledged character in the film “The director (Lokesh Kanagaraj) said that he wrote the role with me in mind. He was really particular about the characterization of my role.”
George felt that his role in Kaithi will not perceived as a serious one by audiences due to characters portrayed in his previous films. But his assumptions vanished in thin air when he watched the film with the audiences, as they got engrossed with his character in due course of the film.
