Gautham Vasudev Menon is a busy director, with ENPT and Dhruva Natchathiram simultaneously under production. In an exclusive interview with Behindwoods, GVM reveals how he extracts music from his directors and how he faced criticism from people for Thalli Pogathey's placement.
"Rahman sir asked me multiple times if I like Thalli Pogathey. He said we can rework the tune and change it. I said it is mindblowing and that he gave a song for the situation I wanted. After the song became popular, we went for the shoot only after two months.
At that time, many people asked me not to retain this situation as the song has become successful. They asked me not to place it during the accident. But I decided not to change it as I got the essence of the song by narrating this situation and it is a script-based song."
Gautham Menon, lyricist Madhan Karky and singer Karthik have started off a very authentic platform for music called as Ondraga Originals. In an exclusive conversation with Behindwoods, Karky and Karthik reveal a very special incident that turned out to become the birth of a song. Karthik said:
“With Gautham’s knowledge, we stole a tune from his phone and made a song out of it. Myself and Chinmayi sang it with Karky’s lyrics. We decided to write the lyrics and turn it into a number and recorded it. Gautham considers it a really sweet gesture. The song has the lyrics that involves a very important sequence in Dhruva Natchathiram. It is called Edho Or Arayil.”
