Gautham Menon has given a lot of memorable films in his career. One film that is forever etched in the fans’ memory is the 2010 romantic blockbuster ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’, which starred Simbu and Trisha playing the leads. In an exclusive interview with Behindwoods, GVM shared some untold incidents that happened during the filming of the movie.
Speaking about the dialogues, he said “Many people say that most of the dialogues in my films are in English. Even in VTV, some were in English and Simbu effortlessly pulled it off. Only for one particular dialogue ‘Promises are meant to be broken’, Simbu suggested that he’ll say it in Tamil. I said okay right away and that scene came out really well.”
When asked about the song ‘Mannipaaya’, GVM said “It was a tough one to shoot, given the hero had to dance in a boat. We had to ensure his safety and the rest of the crew members’ safety too. That song was actually a surprise for me, from A.R.Rahman.”
“I had told him the sequence and left. 3 days later, he called me, saying the song is ready. He had coordinated with Thaamarai for the lyrics and had suggested the term ‘Mannipaaya’ for the song.”
GVM also spoke about Dhruva Natchathiram and if at all, he would be directing a movie with Superstar Rajinikanth in the future. Check out the full interview below:
