Actor Vijay will be seen playing a dual role in the upcoming sports-drama Bigil, co-written and directed by Atlee. The film stars Nayanthara as the female lead while the supporting cast includes Yogi Babu, Anandraj, Jackie Shroff, Vivekh, Kathir and others play supporting roles. The film is produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh and Kalpathi S. Suresh under the banner AGS Entertainment.
It must be noted that Vijay plays the elderly Royappan and the football player-turned-coach Michael in the film. In an exclusive interview to Behindwoods, well-known freestyle footballer Jamie Knight speaks about his experience working in the film as Vijay's football trainer and as one of his body doubles for the sports sequences.
One of the topmost freestyle footballers, Jamie clarified that he hasn't played professional football in his life and that his area of specialization, freestyle football, essentially involves advanced dribbling techniques. Jamie told that he was impressed with the way Vijay quickly grasped the techniques.
Jamie Knight commented "I taught Vijay how to spin the ball (with the finger). This technique is obviously difficult but he learnt quickly. This show how talented (Vijay is)" Jamie admitted that he wasn't aware of Vijay's works before getting on board for the project.
About the making of the film's football scenes, Jamie said "I was present at the spot while shooting the football scene. I was there on set for two weeks, twelve hours everyday, and I saw absolutely everything. It was cool, like they built a huge stadium just for the football scenes."
