Satyajit Ray, widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of the 20th century, was not just a filmmaker, but also a screenwriter, graphic artist, music composer, author, publisher, illustrator, calligrapher and film critic.
Ray directed 36 films, including feature films, documentaries and shorts, and was the winner of several national and international accolades. One of the prolific filmmakers in the history of cinema, Ray was born on May 2, in Kolkata. His 2021 birthday happened to be his centenary one.
