It is a well known fact that, there have not been any new releases in the past couple of weeks in the theatres of Tamil Nadu with respect to TFPC’s decision regarding the 10% Entertainment tax.
The latest good news is that, the films that held back their release on October 6th 2017 can release their films on November 3, 2017 as proposed by the TFPC. TFPC has reportedly thanked all the producers who cooperated with their decision and also requests other producers to support this release plan.
The election for Tamil Film Producer Council (TFPC) is slated for the 2nd of April at Kandasamy College, Chennai at 4 PM. Namma Ani comprising of Vishal, KE Gnanavel Raja, SR Prabhu, Gautham Menon, Mysskin and Prakash Raj, was formed.
They have released an AV which has footages of the team in discussion. Gautham Menon who is contesting for the Vice-President post has given a voice over to substantiate his team's objectives which are as follows:
“Producers are unnecessarily being threatened and are caught in the Kattapanchayats. To save them from all these ordeals, we have formed Namma Ani comprising of Vishal, KE Gnanavel Raja, SR Prabhu, Gautham Menon, Mysskin and Prakash Raj, was formed. This team had planned how to protect the producers. The first step towards this is the Producer’s Election. It has been decided to contest in the election and to establish producer’s rights.
Some of the objectives of Namma Ani are
- To view the problems of other producers also as our problems and to protect his/her welfare.
- To rescue producers from Kattapanchayaths.
- To release the films that are finding it difficult to get released
- To find solutions to all those problems which have hitherto been unresolved”.
