Bollywood’s talented hero, Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise on June 14 has led to several open conversations and debates over the social media platforms like nepotism etc. Some have even come up with their own stories where they were pushed close to suicide.
Now, what turned several heads was popular author Chetan Bhagat’s tweets that made some shocking claims. It all started when he urged the “elite” film critics to be “fair and sensible" to Sushant Singh Rajput's last film, Dil Bechara, set to premiere on Disney+Hotstar on Friday, July 24.
He tweeted, “Sushant's last film releases this week. I want to tell the snob and elitist critics right now, write sensibly. Don't act oversmart. Don't write rubbish. Be fair and sensible. Don't try your dirty tricks. You have ruined enough lives. Now stop. We'll be watching.”
Replying to this post, a renowned film critic, Anupama Chopra wrote, “Each time you think the discourse can’t get lower, it does!”. To which now Chetan has alleged that Anupama’s husband Vidhu Vinod Chopra (producer of '3 Idiots' and the film was inspired by Chetan’s novel 'Five Point Someone’) had once driven him close to suicide.
He replied, “Ma'am, when your husband publicly bullied me, shamelessly collected all the best story awards, tried denying me credit for my story and drove me close to suicide, and you just watched, where was your discourse?”
