Here is what Taapsee Pannu had to talk about Naam Shabana and her experience in this film with us in an exclusive interview.
How did you bag Naam Shabana?
I am working for the second time with Neeraj Pandey. I met him and asked for a chance to audition to prove myself. Post that, he gave me few dialogues and asked me to enact those lines, and I did. It was on the same evening I got a call from Neeraj's camp and they told me that I am playing a role in the film.
How was Neeraj to work with?
Neeraj is a quiet guy; he talks to the point. But, he was so impressed by my performance in Baby that he went on to write a full bounded script keeping me in mind and that's how Naam Shabana happened.
How was it working in Naam Shabana?
Throughout the film, I was keeping myself very conscious, I wanted to make no mistake and add as much value to the script as I can. I was also very hesitant while delivering the dialogues, because Neeraj is a very intelligent and a quality director, so I never wanted to commit mistakes in the sets. I always thought what if he throws me out of the sets? And that constant fear made me give the best.
How do you choose scripts?
I am someone who chooses the director first and then listens to the script. I want to work with quality directors and am glad to have got this opportunity to work with Neeraj Pandey for such an intensive script with an impactful role.
