Director Vijay, is indeed a happy man. He was recently blessed with a Baby boy. He has given many memorable movies in his career, and one movie which stays fresh in fans’ mind is the 2010 movie ‘Madrasapattinam’. The movie is about a forbidden love story of an Indian Boy and a British girl.
Speaking about the movie and it’s making, Vijay said “It has been a great journey. Even after 10 years, the movie is still remembered by many, and I feel it is a great achievement for the entire team. This movie happened only because of the producer’s trust and confidence in me. Kalpathi S.Aghoram sir is one of the best producers I’ve worked with.”
He also recollected how Arya and others reacted after knowing about the heroine of the movie. “I went to London for the auditions, to rope in actors to play the Britishers in the movie. After finalising everything, I showed their pictures to Arya and others. After seeing Amy Jackson, they didn’t believe me. Arya asked me, ‘Nejamave, ivanga dhan panrangala?’ I confirmed the news to them and the team was indeed elated to have so many English folks onboard.”
Vijay also spoke about how it was a technical challenge to portray the ‘Madras’ of the 1940’s. He said “All the pictures we had of the pre-independence Madras were Black and White. It was a tough task for us to finalise the colours and work on the VFX. ALl of us associated with the movie had one thing in common - This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we should deliver only the best. That’s what made us all work really hard.”
