Thiagarajan Kumararaja, the director who won the National Award for Best First Film of a Director for his debut film Aaranya Kaandam which was released in 2011, has not directed a feature film since then. He helped Gautham Menon in the scripting of Yennai Arindhaal and also worked on the story for one of the segments in a collaborative feature film X: Past Is Present.
But why has he not directed a film since Aaranya Kaandam? Here we have the director replying to us about this, “I was working on a script for two and half years. But the film has to be made in a sizable budget and the script also demands a renowned star. But unfortunately things didn’t work and I could not find a producer. I have then been working on another script for the past 1 and half years. Looks like things are falling in place this time around. I will update you once it firms up.”
