Director Susheender Samuel talks about Mathiyaal Vell

Mathiyaal Vell is an upcoming film that stars Rajathandhiram fame Ajai Prasath and Shreya Gupta in the lead. After playing important characters like Hansika's friend in Romeo Juliet, Suriya's sister in Vaaranam Aayiram and Sneha's childhood character in Pallikoodam, this would be Shreya Gupta's first Tamil movie as the female lead.

Mathiyaal Vell is based on a true story that happened in Rajasthan, where young girls were injected with Oxytocin for early puberty and were forced into prostitution.

Talking about the movie director Susheender Samuel says, "We have tried our best to make the movie as realistic as possible. We have focused on making the movie content based rather than star based. Every layman can connect with the romance and the other sequences in the movie that has absolutely no heroism. The heroine's role is purely character based with a social responsibility angle to it. It was Doss Ramasamy, the director of Dora (starring Nayanthara), who introduced me to Ajai Prasath and I think he has done a fine job in the film. Although most actors in the movie are new, we have hand picked talented and experienced actors."

The movie also has Abhishek Krishnan, the author of the novel Clouds don't pass and Balakrishnan, the director of Rummy in important characters. Vaidyanathan and Elizabeth, who played Mia George's parents in Amarakaaviyam, have played Ajai's parents in this film.

Kabilan Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics of the songs in Mathiyaal Vell and Balamurali Balu has composed the music. Singer Swetha Mohan has rendered her voice for a song in the movie. "We have a beautiful song called the Women Anthem, penned by Kabilan Vairamuthu, that speaks about the greatness of women. We are planning to release the single with some great women celebrities shortly", says Susheender Samuel.

Raja Bhattacharjee has handled the camera for Mathiyaal Vell, while Ram Gopi has taken care of the editing. Feroz Khan plays the villain, while actors Murugavel Pandian and Ameen play important characters in the film. Mathiyaal Vell is eyeing a December 30th or January 26th release.
