Manithan is director Ahmed’s 3rd film after Vaamanan and Endrendrum Punnagai. The movie which was released on 29th April is approaching its third weekend at the box office currently. Manithan had a ‘Good Opening’ at the Chennai city box office and was received with positive reviews. It was given ‘Hit’ verdict recently as per analysis of Behindwoods Chennai city box office report.
We talked to director Ahmed about the response he’s been receiving for the movie recently. This is what the director who was in Madurai along with Udhayanidhi interacting with fans in theatres had to tell us: “I’m overwhelmed at the love and appreciation we’ve been receiving for Manithan. We were very true to the story and genuinely put our heart and soul into it. I should thank Red Giant for packaging and promoting it in the manner it deserved. I can proudly say that Manithan is another hit in my career.”
Other sources hint that the director is getting calls from Tollywood and that he might also revoke his previous project titled Idhayam Murali with Udhay. Let's wait for his announcements.
Meanwhile, Manithan was refused tax exemption during its release on grounds that the word Manithan isn’t a Tamil word as tweeted by Udhay. The team has registered a case against this at the court and is positive that the verdict will be in their favour as was the case with Gethu.
