‘DHOOL’ TURNS THAARUMAARU

Director Dharani who had delivered enjoyable commercial entertainers such as Dhool and Ghilli to name a few, had recently turned on a different avatar.

He had taken to the microphone to render a massy number ‘Thaarumaaru Thakkali Soru’ for the film Uchathula Shiva which marks the return of the Melody King Vidya Sagar to Tamil after a long time. Uchathula Shiva is the maiden home production of Karan with the actor playing the lead in the film which hits the screens this week on the 16th of September.

Talking about his latest stint, Dharani tells, “One day Vidya invited me to his studios and I thought he wanted to talk something. When I reached there, he gave me the lyrics of a song and asked to check it out. I thought he was asking for some corrections and said they were good. Immediately, he said- Okay, please sing those lines. I was surprised and was hesitant. He persuaded and would not take No for an answer. In college, I used to play keyboard and we had a band. Vidya knows about that.

I casually started and went for the take.

While this was going on Karan came in. Vidya had apparently told him that he was introducing a new singer and hence he was curious to know who it was and was surprised to hear me sing. In fact, I told them they can use this as a dummy track, but they all liked it and retained. That’s how I became a singer!!”.

Sounds like director Dharani is going to give tough competition to all the singers out there!
