With the forthcoming rural drama Asuran, Actor Dhanush will be continuing his fourth collaboration with acclaimed screenwriter and filmmaker Vetrimaaran, after three critically and commercially successful films such as Polladhavan, Aadukalam and the 2018 gangster epic Vada Chennai. Based on the novel 'Vekkai', Asuran is produced by Kalaippuli S. Thanu under the banner V Creations
Speaking about Asuran during the film's audio launch, the multi-faceted actor said that "(When I spoke about the project) to Thanu sir (Asuran's producer), I just said that Vetrimaaran will be directing the film, he did not enquire much about the story or the budget. The trust is important."
Dhanush believed that the process of working in Asuran was the most enjoyable one "I performed with so much involvement and the work done by Vetrimaaran and his team to acheive that space is enormous. The film has given us a platform to showcase what we can do. So I am very happy to be a part of this film."
The actor was all praise of his co-star Manju Warrier "She has been a friend of mine for many years, but beyond that, I admire her talent and always wanted to work with her. I'm glad that the wish was fulfilled in Asuran. During my earlier days of working with Nagesh on the sets of Kadhal Konden, I used to compliment a lot of my co-actors for their performance. Seeing that, Nagesh sir told 'If your co-actor's craft is visible, then the performance is mediocre, but if it isn't visible, then the acting is great.' In that aspect, one must be scared of her"
