Vetri Maaran’s Visaaranai, produced by Dhanush for his Wunderbar Films was selected to represent India at the Oscars this year to compete for the Best Film in Foreign Language category.
However it is out of the race now as informed by Vetri Maaran in his Twitter page this morning. Soon after, there were many messages lauding the Visaraanai team in social media.
Producer Dhanush also tweeted to say, “We r happy 2 ve represented india at d Oscars this year.V had a great campaign,learnt a lot.Thanks 2 all who wished us well. #wunderbarfilms”.
The film was a hard-hitting take on police brutality and was much appreciated by the audience and the critics alike. At the 63rd National Film Awards, Visaaranai won three awards - Best Feature Film in Tamil, Best Supporting Actor for Samuthirakani and Best Editing for Kishore Te.
