March is generally not the ideal time for a film release. With the board examinations taking the front seat, films don’t get much attention. So we see very limited film releases in the month of March. But this year’s March looks to be totally different; there are 3 to 4 releases minimum per week.
Though we have some good films being released, a better release window could have given a better trade outcome, is few people’s perspective. When Behindwoods spoke to one of the popular producer, founder of BOFTA film institute and National Award winning writer Dhananjayan Govind, regarding this, he said. “We see 3 to 4 releases every week as if it is a holiday season while it is the peak exam time with families staying away from theatres. It is mere suicidal. Having said that, even the filmmakers do not have too many options as some real biggies are waiting to release in the next couple of months”.
When inquired about Zero’s release being planned for March 25th, Dhananjayan says “The board exams would be over by then and with only Thozha and Zero being in the competition as of now, the opening for both the films should be good”.
Zero starring Ashwin Kakumanu and Sshivada Nair in the lead roles will be released by Dhananjayan’s Blue Oceans Entertainment. Nivas Prasanna takes care of the music department and he has given soulful numbers for the film.
