Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsDirector Vijay has directed the Tamil film 'Thalaivi' starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead and based on the biography of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Director Gautham Vasudev Menon had directed the web series 'Queen' starring Ramya Krishnan, an adaptation of Jayalalithaa's life.
Jayalalithaa's brother Jayakumar's daughter J Deepa had filed a lawsuit seeking a ban on 'Thalaivi', 'Jaya' (Thalaivi's Hindi version) and 'Queen' being taken without her permission. The case was dismissed by a separate judge and re-appealed on Deepa's behalf. As the case came up for hearing again this afternoon (April 16), the High Court Judges' Session confirmed the dismissal of the case.
Already, in a reply filed on behalf of director Gautam Vasudev Menon in the case, the director had stated that the series was based on a book written by Anita Sivakumar under the title ‘The Queen’.
