More than content oriented films, Tamil cinema has seen films which talk high about the film's lead hero and use heroic build up shots.
Behindwoods recently caught up with Archana Kalpathi, of AGS Cinemas, who commented upon this. She said, "As far as Kollywood is concerned, content oriented movies without any commercial elements is tough to make. At least, in a producer's point of view. The main reason is that even small upcoming actors expect 'heroism'. That is why less number of content oriented films are releasing. "
Kavan directed by KV Anand and produced by AGS Entertainment hit the screens yesterday, the 31st March. The film that features T Rajendar, Vijay Sethupathi, Madonna Sebastian and others, showcases the happenings in the television media with a lot of honesty. It has been appreciated by the audience too.
We spoke to Archana Kalpathi, CEO of AGS Cinemas to know the response of the film on the first day and she said, “The entire team is overwhelmed with the audience response. We saw the movie in different theatres across the city and will be going to Chengelpet today. Response from overseas and all centres across TN is fantastic. The movie has given the production house a good name and we have KV sir and his team to thank for that. The number of audiences increased steadily from noon to night. A lot of screens have opened special shows for the weekend”.
That’s surely positive and encouraging!
