"SARKAR IS OUR BABY", MURUGADOSS' EMOTIONAL STATEMENT

Sarkar is actor Vijay's next film, that is directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sun Pictures. It has Keerthy Suresh as the female lead while actors like Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu, Radha Ravi and Pazha Karuppaiah play important roles.

The film is slated for a release on 6th November, on the occasion of Diwali. Ahead of the release, a person named Varun had accused that the Sarkar story is a copy of his story Sengol that was registered with the Film Writers Association, way back in 2007.

The President of the association, Bhagyaraj, upon examining the case, has issued a note that he surprisingly found the stories to be similar.

In response to these allegations, Behindwoods got in touch with director AR Murugadoss, who putforth few questions to the legendary director. 

"I would like to ask one important question to respected Bhagyaraj sir. He made a film called Chinna Veedu. The film's plot is about a husband who has an affair with another beautiful girl. He is already married, but doesn't like his wife. Later he realises his wife's love and care and changes his mind and goes back to her.

Exactly, a year before this film, my mentor Kalaimani wrote the story of a film called Gopurangal Saivadhillai. That film's plot deals with Mohan who marries Suhasini in a forced situation, who has an affair outside the house. Similar situations happen and Mohan finally gets back with Suhasini. When we tell the entire film's plot in five lines, doesn't this look similar?

In that case, misusing one citizen's vote is a very very common issue that prevails in our country. Many of us have faced that issue. I get inspired from that point and make my story. When the above said two films can have a similarity, it can be termed as a parallel thought, but mine would be considered as a plagiarism? Why am I punished? It can be a parallel thought for you, but when it comes to us, it will be termed as a 'copy'? Films like Vaazhve Maayam and Payanangal Mudivadhillai have similar plotlines.

Thousands of issues are already happening around us. We are just ten days away from release, and my entire team is working tirelessly to present the final product. Works are progressing in 10 different places. I have extensive pressure surrounding me, and my previous film did not do well. I have that pressure to deliver this time. 

More than 200 people are working under me. Wouldn't they realise all these? He (Bhagyaraj) did not bat an eye to even read my full bound script. Will this inequality happen anywhere outside? When he can frame that my film is similar to that story, just by having my film's synopsis, I can also actually question him with his film's similarity right?

We all come to cinema with so much of passion and interest after seeing these legendary directors. We are inspired by people like them. But, when we come into this arena, these directors throw us out like a waste. Even when I insisted to show Sarkar,they weren't ready to watch it.

Sarkar is like a baby for us. Me, along with my assistant directors team and writer Jeyamohan, sat together and worked on the complete script and the travel is a 10 months journey, like the birth of a baby. Just like that, we cannot allow someone claim that it is his child, and I wouldn't agree to that. My work and my entire team's work has gone into the making of Sarkar and I can face the issue in the Court.", said Murugadoss
