The producer of "Mersalaayiten", Rajendran opposed the titling of Vijay's upcoming Deepavali release Mersal, citing similarity in the titles and alleging potential confusion and losses. He had petitioned against it in the Madras High Court earlier and the petition was dismissed.
Now, a review petition of the judgment filed in the High Court by Rajendran has also been dismissed.
This is good news for the film as well as Vijay's fans, as one more hurdle before the Deepavali release has been crossed.
Amidst the controversies and confusion regarding the ticket pricing situation, Mersal has been the center of attention, as everyone wants the movie to be released on Deepavali. Today, we can see posters of the movie stuck everywhere in the state, implying that the producers are sure about a Deepavali release for the movie.
Now, Rohini Silver Screens has announced that they will be updating us about the booking openings at 1PM today. Generally, bookings open about ten days prior to the release of a big movie like Mersal. We are less than 5 days away from Deepavali. This announcement will tell us a lot about this complex situation.
Now, Rakesh Gowthaman, owner of Vettri Theatres, has tweeted: "Expecting the final GO on ETax & Ticket Rates by 2day . #Mersal agreement to be signed tomorrow . Will update adv.bookings status tom night."
Thus, we can all expect a huge flow of updates from now on. We will keep you posted.
