Anushka Shetty's last full length role was in Bhaagamathie. The movie was of supernatural thriller genre, and featured Anushka in the role of Chanchala IPS, who was held prisoner due to her crime of killing the person who she intended to marry. The movie featured other important artists like Unni Mukundan, Jayaram, Asha Sarath, Murali Sharma etc.
Bhaagamathie was written & directed by G. Ashok and produced by V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod. G. Ashok had previously worked on Pilla Zamindar (2011) and Sukumarudu (2013). Now, the director will also be helming the Hindi remake of Bhaagamathie.
Bhaagamathie will be remade in Hindi as 'Durgavati', with one of the promising actresses of Bollywood Bhumi Pednekar reprising the role of Anushka Shetty in the movie. The project is presented by Akshay Kumar and produced by Vikram Malhotra. Akshay Kumar announced this important update by a tweet from his official handle!
