Rangitaranga celebrated an year run at the theaters on the 3rd of July. When we spoke to director Anup Bhandari about this triumph, he informed us “A new version has been released with a revised run time of 2 hrs 17 minutes. The movie which had a run time of 2 hrs 29 minutes, has been edited accordingly with the deletion of a few scenes and also addition of a few other scenes.”
He also told us “The movie has 10 shows across Karnataka. Yesterday a new show was added to one of the theaters in Mangalore. The movie was also re-released in Singapore on the 2nd of July to celebrate the one year run of the movie. The bookings for the movie got filled up a day before the movie released. The distributors wanted to release it in a bigger theater following the good response. But since it was at the last moment, the arrangement could not be done.”
Briefing us about other plans for re-release, he stated, “The makers of the movie are also planning to re-release the movie in US and UK. The movie set a few records when it was initially released in US and UK. It was the one and only Kannada movie to complete a 50 day run in the US. It was also the first and only Kannada movie to feature in the New York box office report, where it was placed at no 27, beating Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Baahubali.”
The movie is also scheduled for a re-release in New Zealand on the 10th of July. We congratulate the team for this tremendous feat.
