Rajinikanth has been ruling the cinema industry for more than four decades, and he is still inspiring a million fans through his movies. It was in April 2021 that Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced that Superstar Rajinikanth has been conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema. The award ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ahead of receiving the award in Delhi on October 25, Rajinikanth met the media outside his house in Chennai and said that he's very happy to win the award and that he never expected it. He also felt emotional and noted that he misses his guru K Balachander. "I'm sad that KB sir (K Balachandar) is not alive when I get this award," he said. Rajinikanth made his acting debut with late director K Balachander's 'Apoorva Ragangal' in 1975.
In a statement released on his Twitter page, he stated that October 25 marks an important occasion because of two reasons. "Tomorrow is an important occasion for me with two special landmarks. One, "Dadasaheb Phalke Award", being conferred upon me by the Government of India because of the love and support of the people..."
"Second, my daughter Soundarya Vishagan, by her Independent efforts has pioneered the making of a very useful app for people called 'HOOTE' and she's going to introduce it to the world from India. People can now express through their voice their thoughts, wishes and ideas just like they do in writing in any language of their choice. I am very happy to launch this innovative, useful and first of its kind the 'HOOTE APP' in my voice."
