The Tamil Nadu State Film awards are given for recognition and excellence in Tamil cinema. These prestigious State Film awards are decided by a jury. The artists who have won the awards, have taken the effort to appreciate the jury for giving the award to them. This is also my second consecutive state award. Before this, I won it for the movie Nenjathai Killadhe (2008) for the song Nera Varatuma. I sincerely thank the state government of Tamil Nadu."
Actor Jiiva - "I thank the audiences, Gautham Vasudev Menon and the entire team, Tamil Nadu state government for this award. I have won the best actor for Neethane En Ponvasantham (2012). Just as how, it is important for a film to do well commercially, it is also important for good reviews and critical acclaim. I am honoured to win the state award."
