US media reports cite that actor Eddie Hassell, best known for his roles in the 2010 Oscar-nominated film, “The Kids Are All Right” and NBC TV show “Surface,” has died after being shot in Texas on Sunday.
The reports quoted the actor’s representative while confirming the sad news. The actor was shot Sunday morning in what appears to be a carjacking.
However, the incident is still being investigated into, Variety reported. So far, no arrests have been made. A car has been taken from the crime scene for investigation.
Hassell is reported to have been shot outside his girlfriend’s apartment in Grand Prairie, a Dallas suburb, around 1 am on Sunday. He was reportedly shot in the abdomen and taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.
The 30-year-old played Phil Nance on NBC’s science fiction series “Surface,” alongside Leighton Meester and Lake Bell and appeared in 10 episodes. He was seen as Clay, a pill-snorting teenager in the 2010 movie, “The Kids Are All Right”.
