Actor Suriya was last seen playing the lead role in Selvaraghavan-directed political thriller NGK, which released to mixed reviews. This Yuvan Shankar Raja-musical was produced by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu under the banner Dream Warrior Pictures.
Recently, the actor had given a speech during the 40th anniversary celebrations of Agaram Foundation, an organization that aims at providing educational needs to underprivileged children. In the speech, the actor had criticised the recent draft of National Educational Policy (NEP), NEET exams and the much-debated 3 languages policy.
The actor had also mentioned that the NEP is not drafted keeping the underprivileged students in mind, and that the 3 language policy is being imposed upon students. Suriya's comments had invited criticism from members of the ruling political party.
On the wake of this recent incident, actor Kamal Haasan had expressed solidarity and support for Suriya's comments and had also condemned the comments made by ruling party against the actor. Earlier, noted filmmaker and politician Seeman had also conveyed his support to Suriya's statements.
