Mersal was one of 2017's biggest blockbusters. Apart from Vijay's screen presence and the content, one of the biggest contributors to the success of the film was AR Rahman's music. When the first single  Aalaporaan Tamizhan released, the song became an instant hit among fans and music lovers.

Now, the grand song that spoke highly of Tamil culture, is the first Tamil song to reach 40 million views on YouTube. This is a massive record and yet another feather in AR Rahman's and the Mersal team's cap.
