Ilayathalapathy Vijay in his 24 year long career has seen a lot of ups and downs. Even with a lot of hard work on one side, he is still indebted to quite a few directors who helped him to shape his graph. Vijay witnessed his first major success though Vikraman’s Poove Unakkaga. Films like Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, Thulladha Manamum Thullum, Friends and Kushi are some of the important films in Vijay’s career.
But Vijay’s career is in a different league now; his market, the kind of films that his fans expect from him are totally different from what he used to do in the 90’s. Apart from Siddique, Vijay has not worked with any directors in the past 10 years that he teamed up with in the 90’s or early 2000’s. There is a long going speculation that he would team up with SJ Suryah but that has not materialized till date.
In a recent interview with us director Ezhil, famously known for directing Thulladha Manamum Thullum, spoke that he has plans to direct Vijay in the near future. Ezhil who is waiting for the release of his upcoming film Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran told us that “Vijay’s market is in a different league now compared to Thulladha Manamum Thullum, I don’t have a script for Vijay right now but in the near future, probably I might work on a script for Vijay”.
When it comes to the choice of directors, Vijay has always made some surprising moves. When people expect him to team up with an established director, he gives a newbie a chance. When people feel that odds are completely against him, he somehow manages to pull off a victory more often than not.
Apart from his father SA Chandrasekar, K Selva Bharathy and A Venkatesh, Vijay has not acted under the same director in more than 2 movies. Will Vijay give a nod if his yesteryear superhit directors come up with a script that suits his current image?
