The entire film industry was left shattered when the news broke that renowned and five-time Oscar-nominated cinematographer, Allen Daviau, died of complications from the Coronavirus. He was 77.
The cinematographer is known for his works with Steven Spielberg and Barry Levinson on films including E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Empire of the Sun and Bugsy amongst others. His death was announced by the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital, where he lived.
An emotional Spielberg said in a statement, “Allen was a wonderful artist but his warmth and humanity were as powerful as his lens. He was a singular talent and a beautiful human being.” May this departed soul rest in peace!
