The 93rd annual Academy Awards that was held at the Dolby Theatre and Union Station was historic in several ways, making the wait for the Oscars, due to COVID, totally worth it. For the unversed, the Oscars were organised two months later than usual this year.
Regina King took the stage as Academy Awards began. The ceremony was conducted in a socially distanced manner. It also paid a fitting tribute to all the legends that left us for eg Irrfan Khan and so on!
Here’s a glimpse of the 3 main wins - Chloe Zhao is the 1st woman of color and 2nd woman overall to win the Oscar for best director. Yuh-jung Youn won Best Supporting actress for “minari” making her the 1st Asian woman to win an actin Oscar since 1958.
She’s also the first Korean actress ever nominated. Lastly, Mia Neal and Jamika Wilson became the 1st Black women to win an Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling!
