Mani Ratnam’s super-fresh urban love story Oh Kadhal Kanmani which released earlier this year, met with a positive response both critically and financially.
Apparently the luminary director was in Mumbai yesterday to conduct a master class conducted by IFTDA (Indian Films and Television Directors Association) where he reportedly happened to break the information that the Hindi remake of OK Kanmani is on and that it will be directed by his erstwhile associate Shaad Ali.
It must be noted that Shaad Ali earlier remade Mani Ratnam’s Alaipayuthey in Hindi back in 2002, which was jointly funded by Mani Ratnam himself. For people claiming that OK Kanmani is a sequel to Alaipayuthey, here is another reason to say that history repeats itself.
The core technical crew that worked in the Tamil version is likely to be retained - AR Rahman for music and PC Sreeram as the cinematographer. Reportedly the Aashiqui 2 pair, Aditya Roy Kapur - Shraddha Kapoor, is said to play the lead roles for the Hindi remake.
