There is always a list of films that each one would love to watch again and again. Each time we come across our favourite scene, we would have a cheerful time. And each time we come across our favourite dialogue, we start relating them to its relevance in our lives. That kind of an immeasurable feeling occurs whenever I watch Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya (VTV).
With an enduring love for VTV, I went on to watch the Karthick-Jessie romance once again on the 70mm screen on the Valentines’ Day. While all the singles of Behindwoods got together to attack the theatre to re-live the romance, VTV still surprisingly seemed fresh.
I could see all the couples in the theatre singing along, all the singles smirking their way through the proposal scenes, some of them repeating dialogues while some even cried but when Jessie opens up about her love for Karthick, there was pin drop silence. It’s been 5 years since its release but VTV is still refreshing.
Interesting love stories are all what we want to hear, see, smile, laugh, cry and keep falling in love with again and again. Gautham Vasudev Menon (GVM) is a special person who can make you feel those array of emotions in every single film of his. Reminiscing about his stories always brings out some fond memories. He has never repeated his love pattern and has always given something unique each time.
“Yen peru Rajesh, America illa Aminjikarai local. Naan unna kaadhalikiren, nee enna kalyanam pannikiriya!”
In Minnale, the hero deceives himself as another guy just to make the heroine fall in love with him. And after a lot of struggle he finally gets the girl. So there is nothing wrong in flattering a girl by tricking her if your love for her is true.
“Enakku entha vekkamum illa, kaadhalikiren truly, madly, deeply..”
Next you have Kaakha Kaakha, a gem if you ask me. If a girl expresses her love first, it is considered strange, but why not? Maya’s proposal stands out even now!
“Pattunu thonunathum yosikkama solliten, ennaikaavathu puduchurukunu thonuchuna sollunga!”
Married or Unmarried; with a child or without one; a love can change your principles in a jiffy and that’s Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu for you.
“Ini vaalka naa unkooda vaalanum, enaku unna pudichiruku, En appakkum unna romba pidikkum, enna vela, enna padichirukarunu ethuvume kekkamaattaru”
Is it a big thing if you fly abroad for the girl to express your love? If you want to do it, just do it. Nobody can stop you from doing such things if you fall in love with the right person. Vaaranam Aayiram taught us that America is right here. Don’t you remember the ravishing Sameera Reddy accepting her love for Suriya?
“Intha vali enakku puduchirukku Jessie”
Does age matter in love? Karthik’s unconditional love for an older Jessie in spite of her complicated attitudes, surpasses the age issue and making us rethink our principles. And whether you get the girl or not, your life still goes on. VTV taught us that.
“Unakagathan vanthuruken, niraiya thadava sorry kettuten, vera enna panna solra!”
These lines made us see Jiiva in a different light. A beautiful friendship turned into an overwhelming love is Neethaane En Ponvasantham. So never try for love to happen, when it has to happen it will happen and you will realise it soon enough!
Touching upon several real stories and honest love advises, GVM is the guruji for most of the guys and girls out there. So what’s in store between Simbu and Manjima in AYM Guruji? We will have to wait and watch.
