New bill in US leaves Indians super-happy - full details!

Green Card
The number of people leaving India for the US for employment and education is always high. However, once the visa expires, you have to return to the country. If you want to continue living, you must have a green card issued by that country. However, the United States only issues a green card to a specific number of countries.
New Amendment
Now, the United States is about to change the current practice of green card. The U.S. House of Representatives has drafted a bill that would pave the way for the removal of the green card issuance limit for one country of employment-based immigrant visas and increase the limit for each family-based immigrant visa from seven percent to 15 percent.
According to the 2018 US Census, there are 4.2 million Indians living in the United States. Those who move from India to the United States for work and education often prefer to settle there. Thus there is a high expectation among Indians to issue an American green card. Millions of Indians in the United States would benefit if the current bill is passed with the approval of US President Joe Biden.
Speaking on the occasion, Zoe Lofgren, a member of the parliamentary committee that drafted the bill, said, "What happens is, because of the way we set this system up, people who are equally qualified - in some cases, more qualified - are falling behind people just because of their country of birth. That's not merit-based. That's not the opportunity society that America is."
Meanwhile, Indians living there are delighted that the United States has announced an amendment to the green card issuance system.
