Home > News Shots > World newsMany are shocked by the actions of an unidentified man in front of the home of a journalist who spoke out against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
War
Russia declared war on Ukraine on February 24. The United Nations says the war has killed thousands of Ukrainians and forced 3 million to take refuge abroad.
Meanwhile, there are accusations from around the world that the Russian Government is acting in a way that frightens those who make anti-Putin remarks. Following that, a new problem has arisen for a senior Russian journalist who criticized Putin over the Ukraine war.
Senior Journalist
Alexei Venediktov is the editor-in-chief of Ekho Moscow, a Russian-backed Gazprom-media-assisted media outlet. The 66-year-old vehemently opposed Putin's declaration of war on Ukraine.
On March 3, his media was blocked by the Russian Government. He is thought to have survived an earlier attempt to oust him following Mr Jiang's remarks.
CCTV
In this case, a man placed a pig's head at Alexei Venediktov's door. The person who came in as the food delivery man placed the pig's head on Alexei's doorstep, which was recorded on a CCTV camera there.
Alexei Venediktov said, "They threaten me and try to force me to leave the country. But I'm not afraid of this. Although I'm Jewish, I like pork. My wife cleaned the door. The person who did this was dressed as a food delivery man." .
Inquiry
Police are investigating a complaint lodged by Alexei Venediktov. Alexei contacted the food delivery company and asked for details. The company stated that no order was received from that address on the due date and that the person in the video did not work for their company.
