Continued war
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine. This was followed by the entry of about one and a half million Russian soldiers into Ukraine. Ukraine has accused the Russian military of carrying out attacks in a way that undermines their country's infrastructure.
The United Nations says 925 Ukrainians have been killed and more than a thousand injured in the war so far.
Joe Biden
Speaking at the White House yesterday, US President Joe Biden leveled a barrage of accusations against Russia. He emphasized that the letter was not a signal of a formal antitrust inquiry into Russia, but said that maintaining some independence was not the answer.
The Russian embassy in Washington has not yet commented. It is noteworthy, however, that Russia has previously been accused of using anti-personnel mines in Ukraine.
Sanctions
The world has imposed various sanctions on Russia over its war on Ukraine. Countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany have directly blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin. They also ordered the freezing of assets of Russian businessmen in their home countries.
