Bilquis Edhi was born on August 14, 1947 in the Pandwa region of Gujarat, India. With the intention of helping people in distress since her childhood, Bilquis joined the Edhi Foundation. She was married to Abdul Sattar Edhi, the founder of the trust.

Cradle to Cradle Project

With the mindset of loving people all over the world, Bilquis started the Cradle to Cradle program. It paved the way for the struggling parents to raise their children and hand over them to the trust. Based on this plan he established more than 300 cradles outside the Foundation. Many impoverished mothers left their children in the cradle, trusting the trust. Edhi raised those children as his own.

Geeta

Bilquis Edhi found an Indian woman helpless on the streets of Pakistan and incorporated her into her trust. She then named the woman - Geeta, who was brought to the Edhi Foundation in Karachi province. They also facilitated the conduct of worship based on the Hindu faith for Geetha. THe woman was reunited with her mother in India in 2015 after various attempts. The efforts of Bilquis for this have been immense.

Speaking about it once, Edhi said, "For me it is like Ramadan. I am very happy." Bilquis, recipient of the Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice, was hospitalized with a number of illnesses, including pneumonia, dehydration and arthritis. Edhi, who was treated at Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi, succumbed to his injuries.
