Fireball spotted over southern Mississippi USA, NASA confirms!
Home > News Shots > World newsNASA has confirmed that one of the most powerful meteorites in the United States has crashed.
Meteor
In addition to the planets in the solar system, huge meteorites orbit the sun. Sometimes they are attracted by the Earth's gravitational pull and enter the atmosphere. Due to the density of the air in the atmosphere, they are more likely to catch fire as they travel faster. Thus it is considered very rare for meteorites to touch the earth's surface. Also, such meteorites often fall into the ocean because of the high tides on Earth. However, the US space agency NASA has confirmed that a meteorite fell in the Mississippi area of the United States yesterday.
Ear splitting noise
Some people in the U.S. states of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi reported hearing deafening noises around 8 a.m. yesterday. NASA says it was caused by a high-speed meteorite.
Researchers call this the bolide. NASA says the stone, which weighs 90 pounds and is one foot wide, fell at 55,000 mph.
10 full moons
NASA reports that the rock, which fell in the Minorca area of Louisiana, emitted three tons of TNT and emitted 10 full moons within minutes of falling.
An eyewitness to the incident said, "I heard a loud noise and then looked up and saw an orange fireball the size of a basketball, with a white tail behind it."
Atomic Power Station
There was initially fear among the public that the noise was caused by a nuclear power plant operating in the Grand Bay area near Mississippi. But then the default situation was reversed after the Glyborne County Emergency System explained to the public what had happened and asked people not to be afraid.
Many people are talking about the powerful meteorite crash in the United States.
