Surprise Gift
Emerys Timber and Builders Merchants, a UK-based construction materials retailer, has given its employees a surprise gift. James Hipkins, the company's director, paid 750 euros (about 74,000 Indian rupees) to its employees in the face of rising prices.
Hipkins was dubbed 'Britain's best boss' as he paid £45,000 in total to 60 members of staff. He said, "We looked at this late last year when we were looking at pay rises and thought we needed to give people a decent rise this year because of inflation. When you look at how things are, I thought it was a good idea to give them that bit of a boost."
