Home > News Shots > World newsHours after U.S. President Donald Trump decided to withhold contributions for World Health Organisation (WHO), the director came up saying, ‘regretted’ US decision to halt funding. US President Trump had slammed WHO’s actions on COVID-19 pandemic. He also accused WHO of ‘mismanaging’ and ‘covering up’ virus’ spread.
Recently, at a news conference, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, "The United States of America has been a long-standing and generous friend to the WHO and we hope it will continue to be so. We regret the decision of the President of the United States to order a hold in funding to the World Health Organization."
Meanwhile, Tedros also stated that the WHO is reviewing the impact that the withdrawal of U.S. funding will have on its operations. They are also planning to work with its partners "to fill any financial gaps we face and to ensure our work continues uninterrupted."
He also said that the agency's controversial response to the pandemic will be reviewed "in due course." Watch the video below:
