‘US will not pay for your protection’: Donald Trump to Prince Harry, Meghan
Home > News Shots > World newsPrince Harry and his wife Meghan should pay for their security protection during their residence in the United States, President Donald Trump said in a tweet on Monday, 30 March.
Asserting that he is a great friend and admirer of the Queen and the United Kingdom, Trump said the US will not pay for the security protection of the couple who have reportedly left Canada to reside in the US.
“It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. However, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay,” Trump tweeted.
The couple reportedly flew by private jet from Canada to Los Angeles. Meghan grew up in Los Angeles and her mother still lives in the city.
Earlier in January, Prince Harry and Meghan announced that they would “step back” from their roles as senior members of the royal family. The couple’s decision to lead a more independent life had been dubbed as #Megxit.
