US Records Worst Single-Day Rise In COVID-19 Death Toll World-Wide; Reaches 50,000 Fatalities!
Home > News Shots > World newsThe United States (US) registered a record-breaking 3,176 deaths due to the novel coronavirus in 24 hours and has taken its death toll close to 50,000. This tally is maintained by the Baltimore-based John Hopkins University.
The 3,176 number is notably, the worst single-day COVID-19 death toll till date when compared to other countries. Looking at other days tally, US surpassed 2,806 deaths on April 15 and 2,792 on April 21.
As per news agency AFP report, US has the highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world with a tally nearing to nine lakh. While the second is Spain, with over two lakh cases, including more than 22,000 deaths.
Earlier in the week, US President Donald Trump had signed an executive order prohibiting immigration into the US for 60 days.
