US Overtakes China With Highest Number of COVID-19 Cases; New York Becomes Worst Affected!
Home > News Shots > World newsAmid lockdown in other countries of the world, the United States (US) has surpassed China with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases. Looking at Thursday's stats, the number of US coronavirus cases has crossed 82,000; which has surpassed toll of China and Italy.
Meanwhile, New York and New Orleans, are worst affected as they are running short of supplies, staff and beds. With the lack of medical facilities the rise in cases in evident; the US death toll from Covid-19 has increased beyond 1,200.
As per AFP new agency report, New York is currently the epicenter of the virus in the United States this week, the state has now counted 37,258 positive cases. While Louisiana and New Orlean are running out of ventilators and medical help.
With the current updates, at least 1,204 Americans have died from COVID-19, among which elderly and people with underlying chronic health conditions are more prone to it.
At a recent press meet, New York's governor Andrew Cuomo said "US coronavirus death tally has jumped to 385, with 100 fatalities in the past day. The state has received approval to "split" ventilators between two patients, and convert anesthesia machines to ventilators for intensive care patients, if necessary."
"The longer you are on a ventilator, the more probability of a bad outcome," Cuomo added.
