Donald Trump Once Again Slams WHO For Hiding Evidences From Taiwan Health Officials
Home > News Shots > World newsDays after US President Donald Trump halted the funding to the World Health Organization (WHO), he once again slammed the organization over the coronavirus pandemic prediction.
US President, took to his social media handle and asked WHO, what took a long time in taking decisive action against China. "Why did the WHO ignore an email from Taiwanese health officials in late December alerting them to the possibility that coronavirus could be transmitted between humans? Why did the WHO make several claims about the coronavirus that are either inaccurate or misleading in January and February, as the Virus spread globally? Why did the WHO wait as long as it did to take decisive action?” Trump said in his tweet.
Earlier in the week, Trump cut off WHO’s funding from the US. He also accused the body of “mishandling” the coronavirus crisis. As per an AFP report, it is to be noted that the US has been the biggest funder for the WHO.
Ever since the halt has taken place, US President has received a lot of flak from the global community. "The WHO is reviewing the impact on our work of any withdrawal of United States funding and will work with our partners to fill any financial gaps we face and to ensure our work continues uninterrupted," the WHO chief Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.
"The United States has been a longstanding and generous friend to WHO, and we hope it will continue to be so. We regret the decision of the POTUS to order a halt in funding to WHO... When we are divided, the coronavirus exploits the cracks between us,” the WHO added.
