Home > News Shots > World newsA few hours post the launch of the world’s first vaccine to fight against the novel coronavirus infection, Mascow announced on Tuesday that it has received orders for the vaccine from 20 countries. Around one billion doses of the vaccine has been ordered.
The vaccine which fights against the virus has been named as ‘Sputnik V’ and it is known to strengthen the immunity of the infected. The vaccine was inaugurated on August 12. The first dose was taken by one of Putin’s daughters. Putin said, “After the first vaccination, she had a body temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, while the following day it was slightly over 37 degrees Celsius, that’s it. After the second injection, the second vaccination, her temperature also rose a little, and then everything cleared up, she feels good and the (antibody) titers are high.”
Only two phases of the testing has previously happened, the Russian President had shortened the period of testing to rush through the launch of the vaccine. On Wednesday, the vaccine’s Investor said that Phase 3 of the vaccine will begin on Wednesday followed by the production in September.
"The RDIF (Russian Direct Investment Fund) seen strong global interest in the vaccine and plans to conduct Phase 3 clinical trials in different countries, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Brazil, India and Philippines, and start mass production in other countries in partnership with local sovereign wealth funds, including India, South Korea and Brazil, as well as, in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Cuba.
“At least 20 countries had expressed interest in obtaining the Sputnik V, including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brazil, Mexico and India," read a statement released by Russia.
In order to meet the demand, Russia along with five other foreign countries will manufacture 500 million dosses.
