South Korea Updates on Kim Jong Un's Health as U.S. claimed his Health to be in "Grave Danger" after Surgery!

The U.S. Intelligence monitoring at North Korea raised speculations on NK’s leader Kim Jong’s health. Their sources suspected Kim’s health to be in grave danger after having undergone surgery recently. However, they were unable to confirm the severity of his health issues. Earlier today, Korea’s Yonhap news agency, citing a government official confirmed that Kim’s health was not in “grave danger” as claimed by CNN.

An online newspaper from South Korea, Daily NK, reported that Kim underwent a cardiovascular system procedure because of "excessive smoking, obesity, and overwork,” on April 12 according to the news site, and is now receiving treatment in Hyangsan County. Before the procedure, he was present at a government meeting. After the surgery on April 12, he missed his grandfather’s birthday, which is also an important holiday in North Korea as it celebrates the country’s founding father’s birth anniversary on April 15 which raised serious concerns.

Previously, when Kim had disappeared in 2014 and returned South Korea reported that he had had a cyst removed from his ankle.

"There have been a number of recent rumors about Kim's health (smoking, heart, and brain). If Kim is hospitalized, it would explain why he wasn't present on the important April 15th celebrations," said Bruce Klingner, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation and former CIA deputy division chief for North Korea, to CNN. "But, over the years, there have been a number of false health rumors about Kim Jong-un or his father.”

Apart from these, Kim’s sudden absence from social media platforms often paves room for doubt. Due to the absence of free press, any information regarding the country’s leaders is subdued. Analysts are hence left to monitor propaganda videos and media dispatches closely, to find a clue.
