“As soon as [the vaccine] appears, we will start the inoculation campaign,” Sobyanin said, “The vaccination will be free at all out-patient medical establishments.”

The mayor also added that the residents will be receiving more flu shots in autumn 2020 to ensure that COVID19 epidemic does not overlap with an influenza outbreak. According to him, the citizens are slowing moving towards developing herd immunity and he also said that 60 percent of people already have antibodies.

Many Russian institutions are currently working on developing a vaccine to curb the spread of the virus.

“On Monday morning, 20 vaccinated volunteers were discharged from a Russian military hospital after almost a month of observation, as they were given a coronavirus vaccine developed by Moscow’s Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology,” media organization RT reported.

Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), recently said that Russia’s domestic Covid-19 vaccine is likely to be tested “in a number of other countries,” and is expected “to receive regulatory approval… in August-September.”
