Scientists as well as pharmaceutical companies across the globe are racing to find a new vaccine for curing the novel coronavirus. Some companies are still in the phase of clinical trials whereas few other candidates are in the third or final phase of testing. 

US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that US might have a coronavirus vaccine before the November 3 Election.

Moderna, Pfizer and Novavax are the companies that are leading in the vaccine race.

Moderna

Moderna is developing the mRNA- 1273 vaccine to fight coronavirus. The company recently announced that it has commenced phase 3 of clinical trials in the US. The trials are underway at almost 100 sites in the US. 

Pfizer

Pfizer vaccine has reportedly combined both 2 and 3rd trial. The vaccine is being developed along with German company BioNTech. Pfizer is likely to apply for regulatory approvals as early as October. 

Novavax

Novavax will be commencing the third phase of clinical trials next month for its vaccine candidate NVX-CoV2373. It showed promising results in the first phase of trials. The company has signed a supply and license agreement with Serum Institute of India.

Bharat Biotech's COVAXIN as well as Oxford University's Vaccine candidate are conducting human clinical trials in the country.
