KFC's ‘Vegetarian Chicken’ for Non-Meat lovers and Vegans; Details Here
Home > News Shots > World newsOn August 27 (Monday), KFC management announced that vegetarian plant-based chicken will be tested at one of its restaurants in the USA. Further, the complimentary samples of the new product were said to be available at the KFC in Smyrna, Georgia on August 28 (Tuesday).
As per the announcement the new vegetarian KFC nuggets and wings were made available on August 28 in a single KFC franchise, Atlanta. The product is dubbed as Beyond Fried Chicken (BFC) as it is offered in association with the plant-based food company Beyond Meat. The deal between KFC and Beyond Meat has made the former, the first fast-food restaurant to serve plant-based chicken.
As soon as the restaurant opened for the new BFC product, customers were seen flocking in front of the franchise and reportedly the new plant-based chicken product sold out in 5 hours. One of the customers who had to wait 2 hours to get the Vegan Chicken in Atlanta's franchise took to her twitter space and wrote "2 hour wait and line wrapped around the building at @kfc for this Vegan chicken here in ATL y'all. They cut off the drivethrough and will be sold out by 3pm. #BeyondFriedChicken" (sic)

Customers were quite elated about the new product and it is said that Beyond Meat company produces plant-based products and has a nutrient profile of meat without killing any animals. Beyond Meat has tie-ups with other fast-food chains as well including Subway and Burger King.
